Supportive Respite Care


Respite care is a wonderful way to experience life at The Gardens on a temporary basis, from two weeks to up to three months. It’s a perfect choice for those transitioning from a hospital or rehabilitation, for caregivers who just need a break, or for anyone curious about what life at The Gardens is really like, but just isn’t ready to make a full commitment.

Our respite residents enjoy the same services and amenities as our full-time residents. We welcome the opportunity to have you stay with us.

  • Respite stays from 2 weeks to up to 3 months
  • Participants in our Day Care Program can easily transition to respite care as needed for weekends and shorter stays.

Adult Day Care

Weekly Adult Day Care


Open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., The Gardens Adult Day Care program provides daily opportunities for seniors living at home to socialize and engage in meaningful, fulfilling ways. Full breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily, along with special, seasonal events including entertainers and speakers. Daily activities range from exercise and current events to games, music, outings, movies and more.

  • Flexible drop off on the days and times that work for you between 7a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Day Care participants are emersed amongst our residential population to enjoy meals and activities and build a sense of community
  • Provides support to busy caregivers in the community and nursing oversight for added peace of mind.
  • Provides an easy transition to respite(short-term) or long-term care should you need it in the future
  • For those with memory impairment, day care is provided in our safe and secure, Memory Care neighborhood

The Bainum Family

The Bainum family has deep roots within the senior care community that date back to the highly regarded Fairfax Nursing Center which opened in 1964 and is now under new management.

Today, the Bainum’s have expanded their expertise in senior care to include both assisted and independent living communities; The Gardens at Fair Oaks Assisted Living opened in 2001 and The Woodlands Independent Living opened in 2008. 

The success of both The Gardens and The Woodlands is based on the Bainum’s unwavering commitment to quality, compassionate care for every resident.  Owned and operated by founders Robert and Charmaine Bainum, along with their adult children Renee, Kevin, Doug, Linda and Shar, each community is grounded in the philosophy of providing an exceptional level of personalized care based on the individual needs of each resident.

How does our site handle Do Not Track signals?

The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the globe. Understanding the Fair Information Practice Principles and how they should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws that protect personal information.

In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur:

We will notify you via email within 7 business days

We will notify the users via in-site notification within 7 business days

We also agree to the Individual Redress Principle which requires that individuals have the right to legally pursue enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that individuals have recourse to courts or government agencies to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.

CAN SPAM Act
The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.
