Celebrating 25 Years

In celebrating The Gardens 25th Anniversary, it’s appropriate to honor The Gardens founders, Robert and Charmaine Bainum, who have been pioneers in setting the standard for outstanding senior communities since 1964.
The Bainums firmly believe that all residents should be able to lead purposeful and productive lives in a safe and beautiful environment. In 2001, Robert and Charmaine, along with their adult children Renee, Kevin, Doug, Linda and Char, opened The Gardens at Fair Oaks in Fairfax, Virginia. Since day one, The Gardens has kept true to the family’s vision of providing residents with days filled with joy and purpose— a vision that is supported by an extraordinary, caring staff that sets The Gardens apart.
The four main levels of service provided at The Gardens – Assisted Living, Memory Care, Respite Care and Adult Day Care – blend the highest level of skilled, personalized care with a genuine passion for helping residents lead the most productive and highest quality of life possible.
Nobody Cares for Your Family Like Our Family
The Gardens staff truly understands the healing power of a friendly smile and the magic of a kind word, treating each resident as family. For 25 years, The Bainum’s vision for excellence continues with a maintenance-free, stress-free senior living lifestyle that offers the perfect balance of independence and caring support, where everyone not only feels cared for, but sincerely cared about.
In 2008, the Bainums expanded their expertise in senior living with the opening of The Woodlands Retirement Community. The success of both The Gardens and The Woodlands is based on the Bainum’s unwavering commitment to quality and compassionate care for every resident. Each community is grounded in the philosophy of providing an exceptional level of personalized care based on the individual needs of each resident.
